Amit Shah hands appointment letters to over 8,000 Rajasthan Police constables in Jaipur
New Delhi, Jan 10: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday addressed the appointment letter distribution ceremony for newly recruited Rajasthan Police constables in Jaipur, calling it an important day for the state’s law and order system. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and other dignitaries were present at the event. Amit Shah said over 8,000 youth had joined the Rajasthan Police, including more than 2,500 women constables, describing the recruitment as transparent and merit-based, free from corruption or political influence.
He said the process reflected the state government’s commitment to fairness and equal opportunity.
The Home Minister also virtually inaugurated a multipurpose indoor hall and announced Ratannagar Police Station in Churu district as the best police station in Rajasthan. He credited the Bhajan Lal Sharma government with ending paper leaks and ensuring technology-driven, impartial recruitment. Highlighting Rajasthan’s challenging geography, including its long international border with Pakistan, deserts and tourist hubs, Amit Shah urged the new recruits to focus on training to help realise the goal of a secure Rajasthan.
Amit Shah said crime in the state had declined significantly since the new government took office, citing reductions across major crime categories. He also outlined recent policing initiatives, including the formation of an Anti-Gangster Task Force, steps towards police modernisation, integration of command centres, and the launch of a cyber helpline. The Home Minister noted that the new recruits would be the first batch to join after the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, saying the new criminal laws place greater emphasis on technology and citizen rights. He said strong law and order was essential for development and added that improved governance had helped position Rajasthan as a leading investment destination.
