Amit Shah hails India-UK CETA as landmark moment for Bharat’s trade and farmers
New Delhi, Jul 24: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the signing of the historic India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), calling it a “landmark moment” in India’s global trade journey.
Describing the agreement as a triumph of “people-centric trade diplomacy,” Shah said it marks a proud and promising milestone for every Indian.
“Bharat sets another landmark in global trade. This is a moment of pride and prospects for every citizen,” he said. Highlighting the benefits for the agricultural sector, Shah noted that the FTA provides duty waivers on 95% of India’s agricultural exports and eliminates tariffs on 99% of marine exports, opening up new opportunities for farmers and fishers.
