Amit Kumar elevated to IG rank
Jammu, Jan 15: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, from erstwhile J&K cadre (now AGMUT cadre) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Amit Kumar has been elevated to the rank of Inspector General (IG), NIA.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the proposal of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the promotion of DIG, NIA, Amit Kumar, IPS officer of 2006 batch, to the rank of IG, NIA, from the date of joining the post.
Conveying approval of the competent authority to the NIA, the MHA order stated that after assumption of charge of the post of IG, “tenure of the officer may be fixed under the provision of para 5.1 (ii) of IPS Tenure Policy.”
NIA has been asked to intimate the date of assumption of charge of the post by the officer to the MHA.
Earlier this month, Amit Kumar, who has served on several key positions in J&K and is presently on central deputation in NIA, was empanelled to IGP rank by the MHA.
He was among four officers of AGMUT cadre of 2006 batch, empanelled to IG or IG equivalent level posts at the Centre by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) of MHA.
