Amid inclement weather, Traffic Police Rural issues advisory
Ganderbal, Feb 27: The authorities have issued an advisory for the safety of motorists travelling in hilly areas amid inclement weather and heavy snowfall prediction from Wednesday, February 28.
“Given the weather advisory regarding moderate to heavy rain and snowfall from February 27 to March 3, motorists have been advised to ensure the affixing of anti-skid chains in their vehicles before coming on hilly, icy roads of Kashmir. It is further advised that during snowing and slippery roads, only 4X4 vehicles and vehicles having seating capacity not more than 10 seats would be allowed to ply along hilly roads,” an advisory issued by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Traffic, Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh said.
According to the advisory, drivers and motorists with improper vehicle documents, particularly without fitness certificates would not be allowed to ply along remote hilly roads.
“Commercial passenger operators and drivers have been advised to avoid overloading while operating in remote and hilly areas to avoid road accidents and fatalities thereof. Only authorised chain venders will be allowed to fix chains in vehicles at designated locations only, besides, motorists are also advised to avoid roadside parking so that undue hindrance on roads is evaded,” the advisory said.
