Amid bad weather, Indian Army extends relief, medical aid to Gujjar-Bakkarwal community in Pir Panjal
Banihal, Sep 02: In the wake of severe weather conditions and cloudbursts affecting the higher reaches of the Pir Panjal region, the Indian Army promptly extended assistance to the affected local population under the banner of its “Khariyat Patrol” with the reassuring message – “Hum Aapke Saath Hai”.
A Defence spokesperson said that Army personnel braved the inclement weather to reach out to vulnerable communities, providing essential relief material including blankets, food supplies, milk, and sleeping bags. In addition, a mobile medical camp was organized to address health concerns, particularly benefitting the Gujjar and Bakkarwal families residing in these remote areas.
He said the initiative brought immediate relief to 40 individuals from the higher reaches who were facing acute shortages and medical difficulties due to disrupted connectivity.
The Indian Army remains steadfast in its commitment not only to safeguarding the borders but also to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people, ensuring their safety, health, and well-being in times of crisis, defence spokesperson added.
