Amazon India announces reduction in selling fees ahead of festive season

Srinagar, Aug 24: Amazon India today unveiled a major reduction in selling fees across multiple product categories on its marketplace. Set to take effect from September 9, these fee cuts aim to boost sellers as they gear up for the upcoming festive season. By lowering fees, Amazon seeks to strengthen its partnership with sellers of all sizes, enabling them to expand their product range on Amazon.in and grow their businesses.

A statement said that the new fee structure will benefit sellers with reductions ranging from 3% to 12% across various product categories.

Sellers offering affordable products priced below Rs. 500 will see the most significant impact. For example, a seller offering printed t-shirts at Rs. 299 will now pay a reduced referral fee of only 2%, down from 13.5%, resulting in savings of Rs. 34 per unit. The reductions apply to a wide range of product segments, including home furnishing (9% drop), indoor lighting (8% drop), and home products (8% drop).

Amit Nanda, Director of Selling Partner Services at Amazon India, stated, "We're committed to supporting businesses of all sizes. This fee reduction directly responds to feedback from our sellers, especially small businesses. It's a significant step towards creating a more seller-friendly ecosystem."

While coinciding with the festive season, Amazon emphasizes that these changes are not temporary. The fee decrease will allow sellers to optimize their operations for the Diwali shopping rush and set the stage for long-term success.

Nanda added, "Sellers, particularly those offering affordable products, will see a significant decrease in fees. This provides an opportunity to reinvest in their business for accelerated growth. We're confident these changes will lead to unprecedented results for our sellers during the upcoming festive season and beyond."
