Srinagar Feb 3: In a significant development for Jammu and Kashmir's sports scene, the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India has announced the selection trials for the Indian teams competing in the upcoming 2nd India International Soft Tennis Championship and the inaugural South Asian Soft Tennis Championship.

To ensure strong representation from Jammu and Kashmir, all presidents and secretaries of affiliated district units under the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association have been urged to nominate their top-performing senior national players for the open selection trials.

The trials, as per a press statement, are scheduled to be held on February 4, 2025, at the Gindun Sports Stadium in Rajbagh, Srinagar, and will serve as the first stage in the selection process for the upcoming championships.

The statement states that the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India is conducting selection trials for the Indian teams competing in two major upcoming events—the 2nd India International Soft Tennis Championship and the inaugural South Asian Soft Tennis Championship.

Both prestigious tournaments will take place from Feb 16 to Feb 25, 2025, in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

“In a bid to ensure a robust representation from Jammu and Kashmir, all Presidents and Secretaries of affiliated district units under the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association are urged to nominate their top-performing Senior National players for the open selection trials,” reads the statement.

According to the statement, players seeking participation in the trials are required to present a valid Adhar Card along with a Senior National Level Merit Cum Participation Certificate issued by the relevant authority.

“Successful candidates will proceed to the subsequent selection trials organized by the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India from February 11 to February 13, 2025, in Maninagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat,” reads the statement.

Notably, the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association clarifies that no transportation or daily allowance will be provided for participants during the trials.
