Amarnath Yatra on Baltal route suspended for today

Srinagar, Aug 11: Following heavy rains, the Amarnath Yatra has been suspended for Monday on the Baltal route.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said, “Both Pahalgam and Baltal routes to the Amarnath Cave shrine witnessed heavy rains on Sunday. Following the rains, maintenance works of urgent nature are required to be carried out on the Baltal route.”

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said that in the interest of the safety of the yatris, no yatra would be allowed on Monday from the Baltal route.

“Further updates will be issued in due course of time,” he said.

The official spokesman said that the requisite repair and maintenance works were already being carried out on the Pahalgam route of the Amarnath Cave shrine.
