Alleged assault on BDO: JKAS officers write to LG, announce mass casual leave

Jammu, Nov 11: Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gandhi Nagar Jammu Sunil Jasrotia has been transferred after he allegedly assaulted a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer.

Meanwhile, enraged over the incident, the JKAS officers have written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor expressing “deep anguish and strong protest over the unfortunate and shocking incident” involving the Block Development Officer Azhar Khan.

It was alleged that JKAS officer Azhar Khan was allegedly abused and assaulted on Monday when he was performing official election duty as nodal officer (transport incharge) for the by-election during the distribution of polling parties.

JKAS officers have resolved to proceed on mass casual leave with immediate effect unless strict action is taken against the erring officer(s) and mechanisms are put in place.

As per an official order, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jasrotia has been transferred with immediate effect. He will report to PHQ Jammu for further posting while DySP Kuljit Singh, SDPO Basohli has been transferred and posted as SDPO Gandhi Nagar Jammu with immediate effect.
