All GMCs, hospitals to establish control rooms for consultations on indoor patients
Srinagar, Apr 1: The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has ordered for establishment of control rooms in all the Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) and tertiary care hospitals for inter-department consultations of indoor patients.
The facility of the control room will be utilised by all the consultants, faculty members of different departments and for other emergency contact or consultations within their respective Institutions.
As per the circular instructions issued by the Administrative Secretary H&ME Syed Abid Rasheed Shah all the doctors, consultant and faculty members have been instructed to comply with the instructions issued with regard to the establishment of the control room, in letter and spirit without fail.
“The setting up of control rooms inside the hospital premises across all government health institutions throughout the J&K aims at providing the speedy and quality health care services to patients getting admitted in the hospitals especially tertiary care institutions,” the circular reads.
It reads that the control room should be conspicuous, easily accessible to the patients, attendants and as much as possible located near the emergency premises of the hospitals.
“These should be equipped with adequate manpower round the clock with proper connectivity of the telephone services. All the calls from different departments, shall be transferred to the respective departments for prompt and efficient patient care,” the H&ME circular reads.
The personnel manning the control rooms shall maintain a record of all calls from different departments, besides, ensuring that these calls are attended to within the stipulated time, it reads.
“The doctors, consultants, faculty members shall mandatorily attend all such calls,” the circular reads.
