Akib Chaya honoured as 'Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year'

Srinagar, Feb 26: Akib Chaya, the managing partner of Hilltop Hotel, has received the prestigious Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award at the ET Now Business Conclave held at the Taj Hotel in New Delhi.

The award was presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, General Patnaik.

Hailing from Kashmir, Chaya has made significant strides in the fields of hospitality, recreation, and real estate. He has been recognised for his leadership and innovation, ultimately making history in 2023 as the youngest top-voted committee executive member in the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In a heartfelt speech at the event, Chaya addressed the challenges facing the industry. "One of the few challenges is the single window clearance system which happens nationally," he remarked, "but it's still not being implemented in a proper manner."

He also highlighted the urgent need for sustainable practices in the region, stating, "Kashmir has seen a rapid decrease in snow and precipitation over the last couple of years. We need to focus more on sustainable and green architecture in terms of infrastructure development in the hospitality sector in Jammu and Kashmir."

Chaya said that his vision for a more robust and eco-friendly hospitality industry in Kashmir is aimed at not only enhancing tourism but also ensuring long-term environmental sustainability. His recognition as Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year marks a noteworthy milestone in the journey of a leader committed to fostering growth and addressing pressing regional issues.
