Airtel launches fraud detection solution to combat online scams
Srinagar, May 15: Airtel has unveiled a cutting-edge solution to detect and block malicious websites across all communication platforms, including emails, browsers, and OTT apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram in real time.
This security service will be automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers at no additional cost. When customers attempt to access flagged malicious websites, the page load will be blocked, and they will be redirected to an explanation page.
The initiative comes amid an alarming surge in online fraud threats as digital platforms become increasingly ubiquitous across the country. Fraudulent schemes have evolved beyond OTP frauds and deceptive calls, with millions reportedly falling victim to sophisticated online scams.
Airtel's AI-powered, multi-tiered intelligence platform is designed to safeguard customers through state-of-the-art domain filtering across all platforms and devices.
"Over the last few years, we have seen unsuspecting customers defrauded by ingenious criminals," said Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel. "Our engineers have addressed this through our Fraud Detection Solution, providing customers peace of mind while browsing without worry of being scammed."
The AI-based tool scans internet traffic, checks global repositories and Airtel's database of threat actors in real-time. According to Vittal, the solution has already achieved remarkable accuracy during its six-month trial period.
