Airtel expands connectivity to remote North Kashmir villages
Srinagar, Dec 18: Bharti Airtel has forged a strategic partnership with the Indian Army to significantly improve telecommunications infrastructure in challenging border regions of North Kashmir. The telecommunications service provider has deployed 15 mobile towers across the Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipore districts, targeting villages along the Line of Control.
A statement said that the initiative, implemented under the PM Vibrant Village Programme, connects several remote settlements including Kachhal, Balbir, Razdan Pass, Taya Top, Ustad, Kathi, and Cheema.
These villages are situated in the challenging terrain of Keran, Machhal, Tangdhar, Gurez, and Uri valley regions. Airtel stands as the sole private telecom operator providing services in these strategically important areas. This infrastructure development serves dual purposes: empowering local populations with essential communication services and supporting military personnel stationed in these frontier regions. Soldiers will now have improved capabilities to maintain contact with their families and enhance operational coordination.
The connectivity expansion builds upon Airtel's recent successful network establishment in critical military zones, including the Galwan River region and Daulat Beg Oldie, recognized as India's northernmost military outpost.
