Airtel continues to lead J&K’s wireless subscriber market: TRAI
Srinagar, Dec 24: Bharti Airtel, a leading telecommunications service provider in India, has maintained its dominance in the wireless subscriber market in the Jammu and Kashmir circle for October 2024. According to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Airtel’s subscriber base in the region stood at 6,101,786 as of October 31, 2024.
A statement said that in contrast, other private operators faced subscriber losses during the period; Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) saw declines of 114,604 and 2,306 subscribers, respectively.
Nationally, Airtel’s robust growth was evident as it added 1.93 million new wireless subscribers across all telecom circles in October 2024, bringing its total to 385.41 million subscribers by the end of the month. This expansion underscores Airtel’s leadership in customer acquisition and market penetration.
TRAI’s data also highlighted Airtel’s network performance with a peak Visitor Location Register (VLR) of 90.74 percent in Jammu and Kashmir, while its nationwide VLR was recorded at an industry-high of 99.48 percent. These statistics not only reflect Airtel’s superior service quality but also its reliability in providing network services.
Despite a national decline in wireless subscribers from 1,153.72 million in September to 1,150.42 million in October 2024, Airtel managed to increase its market share to 33.50 percent, demonstrating resilience and capability in retaining and attracting customers amidst competitive challenges.
