Baramulla, May 17:  The J&K Awami Itihad Party (AIP) on Friday took out its election rally in Baramulla district and reached out to people in Rafiabad belt besides other areas in the outskirts of the town.

The star campaigner of AIP, Abrar Rashid son of jailed leader Er Rashid along with DPAP leader Shoaib Nabi Lone were seeking votes in favour of AIP supremo who is contesting Lok Sabha (LS) polls from Baramulla parliament constituency.

Addressing the youth in Baramulla, Shoaib Nabi Lone asked the youth to show the same enthusiasm on the day of voting as they have been showing during these election rallies. "All of you should come out of your homes and cast your vote in favour of Er Rashid whose election symbol is pressure cooker. If you will not cast your vote then our election campaign does not serve any purpose," Lone appealed to youth.

He said that the jailed leader, Er Rashid will be released only after he will be sent as people's representative to the Indian Parliament. "Your vote will help him to get released and meet his parents, wife, kids after a gap of five years," Lone said.

He said that besides Er Rashid so many youths were also in Jail but Er Rashid was the only leader who used to talk about youth of Kashmir and their rights.

"Once he will enter the parliament, he will again fight for the rights of youth and will get all the youth released from jails," Lone said.

"Our Party has spent only Rs 20,000 on the election campaign and the amount was given to Abrar by his grandmother. We are thankful to youth and other citizens who are voluntarily participating in the election campaign and making it a success. Our gratitude to the youth who spend their own money to participate in the election rally," he said.

In his address to the people in Baramulla, Abrar Rashid urged people to vote in favour of his father Er. Rashid. He said that it will help him to get released from Tihar Jail.

"People say that not only my father is jailed but other people including youth are in jails. The fact is that all other political leaders were kept in hotels post August 2019 but my father was sent to Tihar Jail," he said. Abrar said Er Rashid's life was like an open book in front of the public and everybody knows how he advocated for the rights of the people during his tenure in the J&K Assembly.

"How he used to talk about Kashmir and rights of Kashmir people in the J&K Assembly, he will adopt the same role when sent to the Parliament," Abrar Rashid said.

He, however, urged the AIP supporters to send the small kids to schools instead of bringing them to witness election rallies.

The AIP held road shows in various areas of Rafiabad and Baramulla town and witnessed massive participation of the youth in rally.
