AIP continues its campaign for Lok Sabha polls

Srinagar, May 16: The Awami Itihad Party (AIP) on Thursday held a massive public rally in Budgam area of central Kashmir as part of their ongoing election campaign for the Lok Sabha(LS) polls.

The Baramulla parliament constituency will go for voting on May 20 and post delimitation, the two Assembly segments of Budgam district -- Budgam and Beerwah fall in Baramulla parliament constituency.

The road show held by AIP in Budgam witnessed massive participation of youth and elderly people. The star campaigner of AIP, Abrar Rashid son of Jailed Leader Er Rashid sought votes in favour of AIP supremo who is contesting LS polls from Baramulla parliament constituency.

Over the past few weeks post acceptance of the nomination forms of AIP candidate, the party has been campaigning in all the Assembly segments of the Parliament constituency and drawing massive crowd in its support.

Both the sons of Jailed Leader Er Rashid Asrar and Abrar are campaigning for their father.

Abrar Rashid asked people to vote for Er Rashid to send a message to New Delhi that his father (Er Rashid) was not alone in the political battle but has a massive support of the people of Kashmir.

"Er Rashid is not alone. I am hopeful that your votes will send Er Rashid to the Parliament to voice the concerns of the oppressed and to talk about Kashmir and Kashmiris," Abrar Rashid said.

Abrar Rashid has been seeking votes during the election campaign to get his father released from Tihar jail and other youth longing in Jails outside Jammu and Kashmir.

During the campaign the party supporters raised slogans that people will take revenge of keeping Er Rashid in Jail by casting votes in his favour (Tihar ka badla jail se).

The party has taken everybody by a surprise as it has been able ro draw massive support from youth besides other age groups. During the election rallies of AIP, females are also seen raising slogans in favour of jailed Er Rashid.

The election campaigners are urging people to vote for Er Rashid who has been allotted pressure cooker as his election symbol by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

On Thursday, AIP received massive support from people of Budgam as youth, elderly people besides females were seen participating in the election rally. The party has framed a schedule to hold road show in Baramulla town and its adjoining areas on Friday (May 17 of 2024).
