AIP accuses PDP of protecting hooligans
Shopian, Sep 09: Blaming PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for harbouring hooligans, Awami Itihad Party ( AIP) candidate Raja Waheed on Monday accused PDP workers for attacking their supporters in south Kashmir's Shopian district.
"I don't know why she ( Mehbooba ) is giving refuge to these hooligans in her party," Waheed told reporters.
On Sunday evening, a scuffle broke out between the AIP and PDP workers which left at least 4 workers including the PDP candidate Yawar Ahmad Banday injured.
Waheed, however, alleged that their supporters were attacked by PDP activists, leaving one of his worker seriously injured. He said that the PDP workers stopped the last vehicle of their cavalcade and beaten up their workers. "They abused our workers and hit one of them with a rod," said Waheed.
He said that they were doing the clean and kind politics. " PDP wanted to replicate the UP and Bihar model politics in Kashmir ", said the AIP candidate.
Hitting back on Mehbooba for accusing AIP as being BJP's proxy, Waheed termed her remarks as " shameful". He said that PDP stitched up an alliance with BJP in 2014. " Now she was accusing a leader of being BJP's candidate who was languishing in jail," Waheed added.
