“The book conveys the dreams and resolve of inspiring personalities from the community and ignites young minds in the Muslim community to actively participate in societal transformation,” he added.

Referring to the book's contents, the LG mentioned that it reflects the equal opportunities provided to all, without any discrimination. “The book also inspires youth to dream big and achieve greater success in their respective professions,” he stated.

Earlier in her address, author Shehla Rashid described her book as a “self-help book.” “It is an inspirational book that contains motivational success stories of some of the most accomplished people in our country, who have shared their autobiographical accounts, stories of failure and perseverance, and strategies for staying motivated during setbacks,” Shehla said.

She emphasised that “Role Models” is as much about success as it is about setbacks. “It is a book for everyone. Anyone who has faced difficult times knows that life is not a bed of roses. But in those moments, we must learn to have patience, perseverance, and equanimity,” she noted. She urged the audience to encourage their children and students to read the book.

“As you may know, it is the first time that musical genius A.R. Rahman has shared his story in a book. In his essay, he stresses the importance of doing something that nobody else is doing,” she said.

She added that “Role Models” is the only book that discusses the achievements of living Indian Muslims.

“The sole aim of my book is to inspire readers to strive for excellence—professional excellence,” she concluded.

Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University (KU) Prof Nilofer Khan congratulated the author on her debut book.
