Srinagar, Mar 1: The All India Inter-University Winter Sports Championship (AIIUWSC)- 2025-26, hosted by the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) commenced on Saturday amidst the pristine snow-covered slopes of Gulmarg.

This marks the second consecutive edition organized by CUKashmir, underscoring the university's growing prowess in winter sports event management.

The event was inaugurated by Dean of International Affairs CUK Prof. Sandhya Tiwari who was the chief guest at the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Tiwari emphasized the championship's significance saying that it was a great opportunity for players to excel.

"We must provide more and more platforms for students aspiring to shine in winter sports," she said.

AIU observer Dr. Rina Poonia congratulated CUK organising this prestigious national event, highlighting the university's commitment to promote winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir.

The championship features thrilling snow events across three disciplines including alpine skiing, snowboarding, and ski mountaineering.

In alpine skiing, both men and women competitors will vie in slalom, giant slalom, and parallel slalom.

Snowboarding events include slalom and giant slalom, while ski mountaineering showcases a sprint event.

Athletes from universities nationwide will compete strictly as per All India University (AIU) rules, promising fierce rivalries and top-tier performances.
