“Spread over 227 acres of land, AIIMS Jammu has a dedicated and personal helipad which is meant for shifting of critical patients. Many security personnel suffer injuries in incidents like explosions, mine blasts etc. So far, these personnel are shifted to major hospitals like AIIMS Delhi for specialised treatment which shall now be provided in AIIMS Jammu and the dedicated helipad will prove highly beneficial in this,” Dr Gupta said.

He also said that AIIMS Jammu would not only provide medical services to the patients of Jammu and Kashmir but also to the people of Ladakh, HP and Punjab.

“Both emergency and trauma services in the institute are well developed and advanced with a forty bed ward fully dedicated to deal with emergency and trauma patients,” he informed, adding that the institute would be fully functional in the next six months.

“AIIMS Jammu will have an annual intake of 100 students for its MBBS programme and 60 students for Nursing. It will also introduce Post-Graduate programmes in Medical, Dental (MD/MS/MDS), Nursing, Super Specialization programs (DM/MCh), Doctorate (PhD) degrees, and more in the future,” he said.
