AICTE, OPPO India launch 'Generation Green' Campaign

Srinagar, July 8: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and OPPO India have announced their 'Generation Green' campaign, a 100-day programme managed by 1M1B (One Million for One Billion). The initiative aims to promote green skills among youth through 5,000 internship opportunities across Indian colleges.

A statement said that OPPO India became the first electronics manufacturing company to offer green internships through AICTE. The programme aims to empower over a million youth, aligning with the growing demand for green skills in the job market. According to LinkedIn's Global Green Skills Report 2023, job seekers with green skills are 29% more likely to get hired than the average workforce.

The internship program is open to students from all streams, both technical and non-technical. Interns will engage in activities to develop skills in project management, sustainability practices, communication, collaboration, research, and data analysis.

Rakesh Bhardwaj, Head of Public Affairs at OPPO India, stated, "We aim to create a macro movement towards sustainability driven by youth power. Through this programme, at least 10 lakh students nationally will receive knowledge and values supporting a sustainable community."

Dr Buddha Chandrasekhar, Chief Coordinating Officer, AICTE, added, "The AICTE internship portal hosts over 50 lacs internships, aiming to reach 1 Crore by 2025. Students participating in these internships may earn 2-3 academic credits."
