AI, drones, CCTVs bolster highway security
Ramban, Aug 18: After the encounters in the upper reaches of Doda, Ramban, and Udhampur, security has been intensified on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) and the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
Sources said Artificial Intelligence (AI) based facial recognition systems, drones, and CCTVs are being used to keep vigil on anti-social elements.
A senior Police officer said that following the encounters in higher reaches of Patnitop, stringent security arrangements have been put in place in Udhampur and Reasi districts besides the hill resorts of Patnitop and Sanasar.
Police and security forces have set up checkpoints on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, and other link roads for carrying out random checks and frisking of suspected persons round-the-clock to thwart any untoward incident.
They said following the encounters in higher reaches and dense forest areas of Patnitop, security has been beefed up in Udhampur Chenani, Patnitop, Sanasar, Assar, Batote, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Banihal Ramsu, and at other places by deploying adequate security forces and Police personnel including at the entry and exit points of all important towns.

Night patrolling has also been intensified across the region and VDGs are patrolling the interior villages of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Udhampur, and Reasi districts.
All the security agencies are on alert and the senior Army and Police officers are stationed in Batote and Patnitop areas regularly monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, official sources said Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) have been intensified in and around Patnitop, Sanasar, Assar, Batote, Kud, and Chenani and for this purpose, special forces besides the J&K Police were engaged.
“Checking has been intensified all along NH-44, especially at Chenani-Nashri and Banihal-Qazigund tunnels,” senior Police officers.
