AI and shifting times
The India AI Impact Expo 2026, alongside the India AI Impact Summit signify a critical moment. Though AI is now a buzzword and people are already using it in more ways than one, but the upheaval it is slated to cause in human world is still sometime away. The potential of AI, as experts tell us, is far beyond what one can imagine right now. Hardly any sector of our current life will remain immune to its impact. All the systems of governance are bound to reshape as AI penetrates government structures.
The way education happens right now is bound to change beyond recognition. Not just education, entire systems of knowledge generation and information dissemination are yielding space to a new set of things. In a nutshell mankind and its worldly engagements are under a tremendous shift. From entertainment to meditation, human universe is recreating itself.
In such a situation, the debate about the ethical and explosive sides of AI aside, the question that we confront is this; are we ready to face such a world? In J&K what is the level of preparation at the governmental level. Are the systems being reconfigured to welcome the change in an unproblematic way? Further, when the changes happen, how are they going to impact the society and is their a broader sense of change at the societal level.
Right now AI is a fascination, a tech creed. But the moment it brings pressure to societal norms, new questions and fresh anxieties will surface up. Already we have started feeling pressures the internet has brought to our family life. But all this would pale in front of massive shifts that would occur once the full spectrum of AI changes are in place.
What we require at this point is a leadership that is not just informed about what AI means and how it is going to impact the human life. This leadership is responsible to prepare people for these changes and equip them to handle the consequences at different levels of human engagement with a deeper sense of responsibility.
