Ahead of DM’s visit, ADGP Jammu reviews security, border management system
Jammu, Jan 13: Ahead of the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu zone, Anand Jain directed the officers to mobilise additional forces in sensitive and vulnerable areas.
He issued these directions while conducting a comprehensive late night review of the present security and border management arrangements in Samba and Kathua districts during the intervening night of January 12 and 13.
The Defence Minister is arriving tomorrow on a day-long Jammu visit. DIG, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) range Shiv Kumar; SSP Kathua, Shobit Saxena; SSP Samba, Virender Manhas besides other officers accompanied ADGP.
During late night checking, Jain emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and security throughout the area.
He directed all officers to remain extra vigilant and proactive in ensuring that the Republic day celebrations are conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner. The ADGP highlighted the need for robust coordination between different security agencies to address any potential challenges that may arise during the VVIP visit and Republic Day 2025.
While reviewing the deployment, ADGP directed that additional forces be mobilised in sensitive and vulnerable areas to prevent any untoward incident. He also stressed the significance of intelligence gathering and timely sharing of information to prompt any security threats. Jain also assessed the performance of the on ground duties of the Police personnel and boosted up their morale.
He reviewed the overall law and order situation and reviewed the readiness of the police force in terms of manpower, logistics and resources. He instructed the officers to maintain high visibility in their respective jurisdictions and ensure that security checks and patrols are intensified.
He also checked the joint naka of BSF and Border Police Posts and advised the officers to enhance them. During his review, he checked Sherpur Nala, Babbar Nala, Mawa, Nandpur etc. Jain also underscored the importance of community engagement and building trust between the Police and the public. DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar urged officers to engage with communities and ensure their cooperation in maintaining law and order if and when any critical situation may arise.
The checking focused on the security arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Republic Day and VVIP visit. The ADGP sought inputs from the officers and planning to ensure safe and secure Republic Day 2025 celebrations.DIG JSK Range briefed the ADGP Jammu about the present security scenario and measures taken for maintaining peace and law and order in JSK range.
