Agriculture Department launches vegetable seedling distribution drive
Srinagar, Jul 16: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, today launched a large-scale vegetable seedling distribution drive from the Kitchen Gardens at Lalmandi, Srinagar, aiming to promote sustainable and home-grown vegetable cultivation across urban and semi-urban areas.
Speaking at the launch, the Director underscored the importance of kitchen gardening and backyard farming in enhancing self-sufficiency and food security. He commended the department's ongoing efforts to support local growers with quality inputs.
According to the Seed Production Officer, more than one lakh vegetable seedlings, including cauliflower and cabbage, are being distributed among farmers as part of the drive.
Shah praised the team at Kitchen Garden Lalmandi for their dedication and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to supporting kitchen garden enthusiasts and the wider farming community.
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, home growers, and gardening enthusiasts from Srinagar and adjoining areas.
