AEE Jal Shakti Dept reportedly missing in Ramban, car found parked near river Chenab

Banihal, July 04: Parvaiz Ahmad Wani, an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) with the Jal Shakti Department (PHE) Sub-Division Gool, district Ramban, has been reported missing since Friday morning. His unattended car was found parked along the Ramban–Maitra road near the Julla Bridge over the Chenab River, raising concerns about his safety.

Local sources and authorities suspect that Wani may have accidentally fallen into the Chenab River. In response, a joint search operation has been launched by police, Quick Response Team (QRT) Ramban, and locals. The operation is ongoing despite high water level in river Chenab.

Station House Officer (SHO) Ramban, Vikram Parihar, confirmed that the engineer’s car was first noticed around 10:30 to 11:00 am near the lower Maitra junction. However, he stated that there is currently no concrete evidence suggesting that Wani slipped into the river. "We are taking every possibility into account and continuing the search operation along bank of mighty river Chenab," he said.

Parvaiz Ahmad Wani, a resident of Alinbass and presently residing in Maitra, Ramban, was serving as AEE for both the Gool and Ramsoo sub-divisions under the Jal Shakti Department.
