Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Shri Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar flagged off Massive Cleanliness Drive at Gulmarg
Gulmarg, July 28: The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), in collaboration with Rotary Club Kashmir, organized a massive cleanliness cum awareness drive in Gulmarg today. The drive was flagged off by Advisor to the Honorable Lieutenant Governor, Sh. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, at the Gulmarg Club.
In his address to the participants, the Advisor emphasized the importance of collective and collaborative efforts to ensure a plastic and polythene-free Gulmarg. He highlighted the crucial role of civil society in this endeavor and lauded the efforts and commitment of the GDA and other organizations toward making this world-famous destination plastic free and environmentally sustainable.
“The participants from various sectors of society, including officers, students, local service providers participated in the drive. The cleanliness drive, which commenced at the Gulmarg Club concluded at the Children's Park. The massive drive saw the enthusiastic participation of over 200 volunteers. The Rotary Club Kashmir also donated several dustbins for the Children's Park, aiding in the ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness.
CEO of GDA, while expressing his gratitude to the Honble Advisor for leading the drive, apprised him of the various initiatives being taken by the Gulmarg Development Authority and Gulmarg Municipality to ensure a litter-free and plastic-free Gulmarg. “We are committed to taking every necessary step towards this goal. In the coming days, we will intensify our efforts and introduce more initiatives to sustain this mission,” he assured.
This initiative marks a significant step towards environmental conservation in Gulmarg, setting a benchmark in itself. The active participation of diverse community members highlights the growing awareness and dedication towards preserving the natural beauty of this iconic tourist destination.
