ADVANCED LAPAROSCOPIC HERNIA SURGERY | GMC Srinagar organises programme

Srinagar, Dec 14: A group of surgeons from outside J&K learnt advanced laparoscopic hernia surgery at a programme at Government Medical College Srinagar here

The programme on laparoscopic hernia surgery was organised by the Postgraduate Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, GMC Srinagar, a press release said.

Established surgeons from Sir Gangaram Hospital and other prestigious institutions of the country visited the surgery department to gain experience from the expertise of the faculty of the department. This educational activity was held as part of the Laparoscopic skill advancement program (LAPSAP) - a flagship educational initiative of the postgraduate department of surgery, GMC Srinagar.

Prof (Dr) Iqbal Saleem Mir, Head department of Surgery was the course director of this educational activity. The programme included lectures and demonstration of various advanced laparoscopic hernia procedures for different types of hernias by the renowned senior faculty of the Department of Surgery, GMC Srinagar.

In all 12 surgical procedures were demonstrated. Principal/ Dean GMC Srinagar Prof (Dr) Masood Tanvir Bhat while welcoming the surgeons from outside congratulated the department of surgery for this initiative. He expressed the desire that such activities should become a norm in the future.
