Advanced Centre for Mental Health gets functional at SKIMS Bemina

Srinagar, Oct 6: The 40-bedded state-of-the-art “Advanced Centre for Mental Health & Addiction Medicine” was dedicated to the public at SKIMS Medical College Bemina, Srinagar, by Prof M Ashraf Ganie, Director of SKIMS and Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

Prof Ganie was joined by Prof Shariq Rashid Masooodi, Dean of the Medical Faculty at SKIMS; Dr. Shafa A. Deva, Medical Superintendent; and Dr. Abdul Majid, Professor & HOD of Psychiatry at SKIMS at the venue. Other prominent professionals present included Heads of Departments from various specialties of SKIMS Medical College, Prof. Mohammad Maqbool, HOD of Psychiatry at GMC Srinagar, Dr Showkat A. Mir, senior psychiatrist, other faculty members from SKIMS Medical College, Deputy Director (AO) of SKIMS Medical College, and officers from the Engineering Department and Nursing Administration.

The advanced center will offer a variety of modernized services, including Ultra Brief Modified ECT, Addiction Treatment Facilities, tDCS, Special Outreach Clinics, Ketamine Therapy, Psychotherapies, EEG, Counseling, Multi-Behavior Therapy, Special Clinics, Biofeedback, and Consultation Liaison, in addition to routine outpatient and inpatient services. The Director agreed to allocate two additional staff members and enhance nursing and security staff for the center to ensure its smooth functioning in the best interest of patient care.
