Srinagar, Nov 30: Advocate Waseem Gul, President of the Kashmir Advocates’ Association (KAA) and the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar, led a delegation of lawyers from Jammu & Kashmir at the Bar Council of India’s felicitation ceremony in honour of the newly appointed Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, said a press release.

“Accompanied by KAA General Secretary, Adv Adil Muneer Andrabi, Adv Gul presented a bouquet to the CJI and conveyed greetings on behalf of the legal fraternity of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. Their participation underscored the region’s strong professional engagement with national judicial institutions,” according to the statement issued here by the KAA. The event held in New Delhi, brought together BCI leadership, office-bearers of State Bar Councils, senior advocates, and representatives of major High Court Bar Associations from across the country.

It also highlighted the increasing national footprint of the Kashmir Advocates’ Association and the J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar in articulating regional perspectives while reaffirming commitment to constitutional values and the rule of law, the KAA said. The ceremony marked a tribute to Justice Surya Kant’s distinguished judicial career and celebrated his elevation as the 53rd Chief Justice of India.

“For the J&K lawyers, the opportunity to personally felicitate the new CJI served as both an honour and an affirmation of their enduring trust in the country’s judicial system.”
