Administrative Secretary DMRRR Ladakh inspects Emergency Operation Centre in Leh

Leh, Jan 12: Administrative Secretary of Disaster Management, Relief, Rescue, and Rehabilitation (DMRRR), Ladakh Amit Sharma Friday inspected the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at Upper Tukcha, Leh and undertook a comprehensive evaluation of the centre’s capabilities and functionalities.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that the highlight of the visit was a live demonstration and performance check of the Quick Deployment Antennas (QDAs) by the adept EOC team and the operations of the Centre wherein people of Ladakh connects for help in case of emergencies of all kinds.

Sharma witnessed firsthand the rapid deployment and seamless functionality of the Quick Deployment Antennas.

He emphasised the critical role in ensuring communication during emergencies.

Sharma said that in the next phase, the J&K administration would go for setting up a Comprehensive Command and Control Centre which would help in detecting occurrences of natural disasters with the help of sensors, and public alert systems and take precautionary measures to minimise loss of precious human lives and property in J&K.

He also lauded the efforts of the EOC team for their proficiency in handling the Quick Deployment Antennas at the centre and termed it as world-class.

Sharma underscored the importance of such cutting-edge technologies in disaster management and relief efforts, acknowledging the essential role played by the EOC in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

He said that the Emergency Operation Centre, at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and innovation, would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, setting a new standard for operational excellence.

“The state-of-the-art facilities within the operation centre are designed to enhance efficiency, responsiveness, and overall operational capabilities,” Sharma said.
