Administration must provide adequate compensation: Sagar
Srinagar, Feb 6: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar, Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar Friday expressed deep anguish over the devastating fire incident in Syed Pora, Nowhatta, which has rendered several families homeless and helpless.
In a press release issued from the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, Sagar said that he was deeply pained by the scale of destruction caused by the fire. He urged the district administration, particularly the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, to ensure immediate relief, temporary shelter, and adequate compensation for the affected families without any delay. “The victims have suffered immense loss and require urgent assistance. The administration must act swiftly to provide relief and rehabilitation to those impacted by this tragedy,” he said.
Highlighting long-term safety measures, he further informed that an amount of ₹1.5 crore has been allocated for the construction of a Fire and Emergency Services station in the area from his CDF.
He added that efforts are currently underway to identify and finalise suitable land for the project, which will significantly strengthen fire response and disaster preparedness in the locality.
Meanwhile, MLA Habba Kadal, Shameema Firdous, also extended support to the affected families. Both leaders reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to stand with the affected families during this difficult time and assured all possible assistance for their relief and rehabilitation.
