DM Jammu bans sale of firecrackers ahead PM's visit tomorrow
Srinagar, Feb 19: The District Magistrate Jammu on Monday ordered a ban on sale of fire crackers in the district Jammu. This comes ahead of Prime Minister's visit to the winter capital tomorrow.
As per the inputs from police, the use of fire crackers may create confusion among the security forces resulting in a "serious security breach and peace and order disturbance of public tranquility during the upcoming VVIP visit," reads the DM's order.
Any breach of peace and order which might cause danger to human lives and properties should be immediately prevented, it said.
These reasons, the DM opined have enough ground to proceed under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code, 1973.
The order comes into effect immediately and shall be in place till 5:00pm on 20th February 2024.And any violations of this order will invite punitive action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860, the order said further.
