Shopian, Aug 23: The Expenditure Observer for Shopian district, Nelapatla Ashok Babu, today sought complete adherence by banks and enforcement authorities of the district to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines for conduct of free and fair general elections to Legislative Assembly.

The EO was chairing a meeting of senior officials of enforcement authorities and heads of banks operating in the district in presence of District Election Officer, Faz Lul Haseeb.

The Election Observer emphasised the critical role of banking and enforcement agencies in ensuring a fair, transparent, and corruption-free election process. Several key issues were discussed during the meeting with regard to cash transactions in the light of ECI guidelines. The session also included discussions on the ceiling for cash transactions and withdrawal limits as per ECI norms.

The DEO directed the expenditure monitoring teams to stay vigilant and proactive, ensuring that all candidates adhere strictly to the prescribed expenditure limits.

Stress was laid on Monitoring and Reporting of Cash Withdrawals and strict monitoring on election campaigning for expenditure booking by the Expenditure Monitoring teams.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all participants to uphold the integrity of the election process, ensuring free and fair elections in the district.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Heads of Banks, Expenditure Monitoring teams, Police, Excise and Taxation, Legal Metrology, Traffic authorities and other concerned departments.
