ADGP L&O visits Anantnag, Shopian, chairs review meeting

Srinagar, May 19: In the wake of twin terror attacks on Saturday evening, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed, Law and Order, Vijay Kumar, visited Pahalgam in Anantnag and Heerpora in Shopian on Sunday to take stock of the situation.

His visit aimed to assess the situation on the ground and strategize future operations to ensure security ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled in South Kashmir on May 25.

On Saturday evening, a couple from Rajasthan were injured in terrorist firing while in Shopian one of the former Sarpanch was killed in terrorist firing.

During his visit, he held meetings with senior police officers and other security personnel to review the situation and discuss strategies to prevent further incidents.

In Anantnag, Vijay Kumar chaired a security review with all five district SSPs of south Kashmir. Deputy Inspector General of Police, south was also present in the meeting.

Reliable sources said that Vijay Kumar during the meeting said that they need to ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous acts are brought to justice swiftly. He asked the officers to intensify operations and nab not just the terrorists, but also those who support and sympathize with them.

With the Lok Sabha elections just a few days away, ADGP told the officers that it is imperative that they ramp up security apparatus. He told the officers that they are committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for voters and election staff alike.
