ADGP Law & Order Vijay Kumar transferred to Delhi

Jammu, Jan 9: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, J&K, Vijay Kumar has been transferred to the Delhi segment of AGMUT cadre, with immediate effect, by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The transfer will remain in effect, until further orders.

Kumar, IPS officer of erstwhile J&K cadre (now AGMUT cadre) of the 1997 batch, was also holding the additional charge of ADGP, Armed, J&K, CG, HG, CD, SDRF.

“With the approval of competent authority, Vijay Kumar, IPS (AGMUT: 1997) is hereby transferred from Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi segment of AGMUT cadre with immediate effect and until further orders,” read an order issued by Director (S), Anish Muraleedharan of the MHA, on January 2, 2025.

Presumed to be an expert hand in anti-terrorism and anti-Maoist operations, ADGP Kumar, hailing from Bihar, has served in key positions in J&K, including challenging and sensitive districts like Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag.

The officer, known for his quiet, effective functioning imbuing perfect synergy yet maintaining low profile, in particular, left his indelible mark while serving as IGP and ADGP Kashmir during its critical period.

He served as IGP Kashmir from December 2019 till he took over as ADGP Law and Order in November 2023.
