ADGP Jammu reviews security, preparedness

Jammu, Sep 01: In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu zone, Anand Jain has directed for mobilisation of additional forces in sensitive and vulnerable areas.

He issued these directions, while conducting a comprehensive review of the security and law and order arrangements in Jammu district, in a meeting held on August 31 at the Conference Hall of District Police Lines.

The meeting was attended by DIG JSK Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma; SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, besides all territorial SSPs, all SDPOs, SHOs, In-Charge Police Posts and In-Charge BPPs of Jammu district.

During the meeting, Jain emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and security throughout the electoral process. He directed all participants to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.

Jain reviewed the deployment plans and directed that additional forces be mobilised in sensitive and vulnerable areas to prevent any untoward incidents. He also stressed the significance of intelligence gathering and timely sharing of information to pre-empt any security threats.

The ADGP took stock of the district's overall law and order situation and reviewed the readiness of the police force in terms of manpower, logistics, and resources.

He instructed the officers to maintain high visibility in their respective jurisdictions and ensure that security checks and patrols are intensified.

ADGP also underscored the importance of community engagement and building trust between the police and the public. He urged officers to engage with communities and ensure their cooperation in maintaining law and order during the election period.

The meeting focussed on the security arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming elections. The ADGP sought inputs from the officers and the plan to ensure safe and secure Assembly elections.

A detailed presentation on the current crime statistics, security and election preparedness was given by SSP Jammu, highlighting trends in various types of criminal activities, security and various aspects pertaining to the Assembly election preparedness.
