Anantnag, May 17: Continuing with his series of visits to review the functioning of various armed police units across Jammu and Kashmir, Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed J&K visited the headquarters of IRP 11th Battalion located at District Police Lines (DPL), Anantnag on Saturday.

On his arrival, Jain was accorded a warm welcome by Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range, Javid Iqbal Matoo, along with other senior officers of the district.

A ceremonial guard of honour was presented to the visiting officer by a smartly turned-out contingent of the IRP 11th Battalion. During the visit, the ADGP conducted a detailed inspection of various unit establishments, offices, and facilities within the complex.

The inspection aimed to assess both operational readiness and the administrative functioning of the battalion.

A special Darbar was convened on the occasion, providing personnel an opportunity to directly interact with the senior officer.

During the interaction, various concerns pertaining to service conditions, welfare measures, infrastructure, and logistics were raised by the staff.

Jain listened attentively to the issues and directed concerned officers on the spot for the redressal of genuine grievances.

He assured the personnel that their legitimate concerns would be taken up for resolution at the Armed Police Headquarters (APHQ) level as well.

Promoting the message of environmental consciousness, Shri Jain also planted deodar saplings in the premises of the battalion headquarters.

While addressing the Darbar, he lauded the dedication, discipline, and commitment displayed by the officers and soldiers of the battalion. He urged them to participate actively in the refresher training programmes being organised regularly to upgrade operational skills and knowledge.

Underscoring the growing importance of cyber security, the ADGP cautioned the personnel about the responsible use of social media platforms.

He advised against sharing sensitive information such as passwords or PINs, and recommended using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication for safeguarding personal and official digital assets.

Expressing concern over the rising incidents of cyber fraud, he emphasised the need for constant vigilance and staying updated with evolving cyber threats to protect both personal and departmental information.

With the annual Amarnath Yatra approaching, Jain stressed the need for heightened alertness and top-notch operational preparedness.

He directed all officers and soldiers to remain vigilant and maintain high levels of discipline and coordination throughout the pilgrimage period.

He also instructed regular cleanliness drives within the premises and emphasised the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

Further, he directed the battalion Commandants to ensure periodic health check-ups of all personnel to safeguard their well-being.

As part of his field review, the ADGP also inspected the minority pickets of the Hindu and Sikh communities located at Thajiwara and Push Kreeri.

He assessed the security arrangements in place and issued specific instructions to the Guard Commanders to maintain round-the-clock alertness and proactive patrolling.

Several prominent dignitaries were present during the visit, including Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag; Brigadier Pritam Raj, Sector Commander RR 1st; Amrit Pal, IPS, SSP Anantnag; Anuj Kumar, IPS, Commandant IRP 11th Battalion; Munir Ahmed, SSP APCR Kashmir; among other senior officers of the police, civil, and security establishments.
