Adaptability crucial for sustaining enterprises: ACS Shantmanu
Handwara, Nov 9: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Shantmanu has said that adaptability, skilled manpower and quality production are the main cornerstones for the long-term sustainability of business ventures. Shantmanu was speaking after inaugurating a milk processing unit Shehlal Handwara, where he interacted with local entrepreneurs, youth, and officials from district administration.
Addressing the audience, the ACS said that flexibility and innovation are indispensable for survival and growth in today’s fast-changing business environment. "You need to keep adapting and remain flexible, for sustainable growth of the business,” he said, adding that entrepreneurs who fail to evolve with time eventually lose relevance and ultimately lose sustainability.
He emphasised that entrepreneurs must move beyond the act of setting up a business and should indulge in continuous learning, improvement, and adaptation of new tricks and techniques for everlasting impact.
"Establishing a business unit is important, but to keep it going takes more energy. Sustainability includes timely availability of raw materials, market awareness, financial discipline, and the ability to face competition" he added. The ACS while talking about quality checks, said that the success of any business unit depends on maintaining quality, employing skilled staff, and ensuring the safety and security of business operations. "No business on earth can go a long way if quality is compromised at any stage, so the youth involved in different ventures must not compromise with the quality," he said.
While referring to the challenges faced by many family-run businesses, the ACS said that sometimes one generation sustains a business, but the next fails to do so because it does not adopt new and innovative trends. Encouraging the youth to tread the path of entrepreneurship, for a better tomorrow, he said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are capable and full of creativity. Shantmanu assured that J&K government was committed to extend full support to entrepreneurs through various self-employment and industrial promotion schemes.
