Adani Foundation grants Rs 70 lakh to armless Cricketer Amir Hussain Lone for Cricket Academy
Srinagar, Dec 26: The Adani Foundation has granted `70 lakh to Amir Hussain Lone, brand ambassador of Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh, to establish a cricket academy for underprivileged youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
Lone visited Aryans Group of Colleges today, where he interacted with students and participated in a special function presided over by Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman of Aryans Group. The event included a lamp-lighting ceremony and informal cricket session with students.
"I want to ensure aspiring cricketers don't face the hardships I encountered," said Lone, expressing gratitude to the Adani Foundation. The planned Amir Cricket Academy will offer free training and operate year-round.
Preeti Adani, Chairperson of Adani Foundation, praised Lone's commitment to building a cricket facility in Anantnag that will serve both able-bodied and specially-abled athletes. She noted that Gautam Adani was personally inspired by Lone's determination to overcome challenges.
Lone, currently pursuing higher education at Aryans, has gained recognition from cricket legends and Bollywood personalities. Sachin Tendulkar has invited him to bowl the inaugural ball of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL). Known for his unique playing style, Lone bowls with his feet and bats using his shoulder and neck.
