Jammu, Feb 22: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Choudhary on Saturday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat to act tough against the identified criminals in Jammu.

He said the Jammu district has witnessed rise in gang wars and other criminal activities from quite some time and urged police to rebuild its confidence in society while playing its role in curbing criminals and their activities.

“It is unfortunate that gang wars, murders and other criminal activities have increased in Jammu district. I urge Lieutenant Governor and DGP J&K Police to intervene into it, and act tough against elements involved in harming public order,” Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Choudhary as per Greater Kashmir told reporters.

“The law enforcement agencies should play their role and tighten noose around criminals,” he empahsised.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is a peace-loving region, however the ongoing gang wars, murders and trade of narcotics among youth is alarming, and urged police to play its role in curbing this nuisance.

Deputy Chief Minister continued that the crime rate has reached to new heights in Jammu city which is very unfortunate. “I’m hoping that Lieutenant Governor and DGP J&K Police will intervene and take criminals to task without any wait,” he said.

When asked why police has failed to act against identified criminals, the Deputy Chief Minister said the timely deliverance of justice has badly hit due to few incompetent officers.

He urged J&K police to restore its confidence in society and act tough against criminals who have made lives of peace-loving people hell.
