Acha Bagh residents decry lack of drainage system
Srinagar, Feb 13: Inhabitants of Acha Bagh Mallabagh near Ibrahim Masjid in Lane 6 have demanded construction of drainage system in their locality.
The aggrieved residents said that this long-pending demand has been overlooked by authorities over the years despite their repeated pleass.
The residents said that lack of drainage system has led to numerous problems in the area. “During rains, our roads get waterlogged causing inconvenience to us. It also leads to unhygienic conditions and breeding of mosquitoes. We have appealed many times to authorities but our demand has fallen on deaf ears,” said one resident.
The inhabitants highlighted that the construction of the drainage system would carry out the excess water and allow it to flow into the main outlet.
“We sincerely hope the SMC Commissioner will take cognisance of our grievance soon. In every rainy season, we face trouble due to water-logging on streets where our children play. The construction of the drain has become an absolute necessity now,” they added.
