Accused involved in Basantgarh militant attack case arrested: Police
Udhampur, May 11: In a significant development, police on Saturday claimed to have arrested one accused person involved in the Basantgarh Militant attack Case in Udhampur district.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that Jammu & Kashmir Police at Udhampur has made initial forays into the continuing investigation of the Basantgarh encounter case FIR No. 09/2024 of P/S Basantgarh U/S 302/307/121/121A/122/120B/IPC , 113/16/18/18A/19/ 21 UAPA,7/27 Arms Act, in which one VDG personnel, Mohammad Sharif, R/O Lower Ponara Basantgarh, was martyred in a face-off with terrorists at Chochru Gala area of Basantgarh.
According to police spokesman, Udhampur Police has thus far gained some credible information about the movement of suspects and had likewise zeroed in on a few unscrupulous elements that had marked proclivities towards the act of crime.
The police, in consequence, arrested an individual viz. Javed S/O Mohd. Hussain R/O Loha Nathi, Kathua, who has evidence stacked against him for providing the logistic support to the terrorists.
This is the first arrest made by Police in this case so far. Further investigation into the case is going on, he said.
On the basis of inputs received from various quarters, Udhampur Police have been able to make some sketches depicting the probable description of the some of the terrorists to share it in public domain so that specific information regarding the presence of these terrorists can be generated, he said.
Udhampur Police also announces handsome cash reward to whomsoever provides specific information regarding the presence of terrorists leading to their neutralization, reads the statement.
