Accidental grenade blast in Baramulla court complex; cop injured
Baramulla, Oct 24: Panic gripped court complex Baramulla on Thursday afternoon after a grenade inside the evidence room went off accidentally injuring a Police official.
The injured Police official was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, where his condition is stated to be stable.
An official said that a grenade, collected as evidence in a case, placed inside the court’s evidence room accidentally detonated on Thursday afternoon, injuring a Police official.
He said that the Police official on duty suffered a minor injury in the incident and was immediately shifted to GMC Baramulla where his condition is stated to be stable.
The incident caused panic in the court complex and clients and lawyers were seen rushing for safety. However, soon after the incident, a Police party from Baramulla rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
The situation soon returned to normal.
Meanwhile, Police in Baramulla in a statement said, “At around 1:05 pm on Thursday, a grenade accidentally went off inside Malkhana Court Complex Baramulla in which one on duty Police official got injured. The situation is under control. People are requested not to pay heed to any rumours.”
There are very less changes of grenades going off on their own, however, sometimes it can happen due to a defect.
