New Delhi, Sep 03: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has observed an increase in spam calls, with over 7.9 lakh complaints lodged against Unregistered Telemarketers (UTMs) in the first half of 2024.

In response to this growing menace and complaints from the consumers, TRAI issued strict directives to Access Providers on August 13, 2024, aimed at curbing the surge in spam communications.
