ACB registers case against police officer for amassing disproportionate assets
Srinagar, Oct 11: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar has registered a case against a police officer for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to an official statement, the ACB Police Station Srinagar registered FIR No. 20/2025 against Peer Zada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, son of Peer Zada Mohammad Akber Shah, a resident of Wahabpora, Budgam. Shah, who was serving as a cashier at the District Police Office (DPO) Bandipora, is accused of accumulating substantial assets both in his own name and in the names of his family members during his service.
Following verification, the ACB found that the officer and his family possessed several properties and assets that could not be justified by their known income. The assets identified so far include:
Landholdings measuring approximately three kanals and six marlas in Budgam district, including one kanal and 14 marlas at Shahpora Wathora, Budgam.

AdvertisementBank balances amounting to around ₹48.26 lakh in various accounts.
AdvertisementMultiple vehicles registered in the names of the accused and his family members.
AdvertisementExpenditure of about ₹40 lakh on his children’s education in reputed institutions.
Substantial expenses on foreign travel and insurance premiums.
The bureau said searches were conducted at various locations associated with the accused in Budgam, during which several incriminating documents and materials were seized for further scrutiny.
The ACB said further investigation into the case is underway.
