ACB arrests AE RDD Surasyar for accepting bribe to release payments
Ganderbal, Dec 21: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested Tanveer Ahmad Dar, Assistant Engineer Rural Development Department (RDD) Surasyar, Chadoora, for demanding and accepting `2000 for releasing the payment.
The ACB received a written complaint against Tanveer Ahmad Dar, AE RDD, BDO Office, Surasyar, Chadoora, for allegedly demanding a bribe of `2000 for release of due payment in favour of the complainant.
The complainant alleged that he is a contractor of RDD and had completed allotted Works and the AE is demanding 2% of the total cost of the bills. The complainant alleged that the two bills amounting to the tune of `90000 each were to be passed by alleged AE. However the official remained adamant on his demand of bribe and finally agreed on `2000 as bribe to release the payment. The complainant arranged `2000 and approached ACB for legal action.
On receipt of the complaint, case FIR No 25/2023 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered in PS ACB Srinagar and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Tanveer Ahmad while demanding and accepting the bribe amount. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused on the spot. The accused was arrested and taken into legal custody. Further Investigation of the case is going on,” ACB said.
