Abi Guzar residents decry supply of contaminated drinking water

Srinagar, Oct 20: Residents of Abi Guzar area today complained of the supply of contaminated drinking water, saying it poses a risk to their lives.

A delegation from the area displayed a container of drinking water with insects and earthworms. “This is the quality of drinking water we receive from the pipeline. Pungent smell emanates from the drinking water. This poses serious risk to our health, and we demand immediate measures to ensure that we receive safe drinking water,” they said.

The residents said that many people have developed stomach infections after consuming the dirty water. “We demand that water tankers must be pressed into service in our area till the problem is rectified,” they said.
