Abduction, murder case of cab driver solved in Jammu
Jammu, Aug 24: Police in Jammu district solved a case of abduction and murder of a cab driver.
The driver, Mangal Singh, a cab driver from Jammu, had gone missing few days while during his travel from Katra to Jammu. Police arrested a gang of interstate criminals from Ratia Fatehbad in Haryana.
The police was able to recover Mangal Singh’s body from the Bajalta Morh area in Nagrota, following the gang’s disclosure, police said. It informed that the case investigations began when a missing report was filed on August 19 by Mangal Singh’s brother after he failed to return home from Katra.
Jammu Police, led by SHO Nagrota Parvez Sajad and SHO Jajjar Kotli Nishant Gupta closely supervised by SP Rural Jammu Brijesh Sharma collected and analysed CCTV footage from various locations, along with call data records and hotel records in Katra.
This investigation led them to a crucial lead technical lead, police said. Following this, the police team led by SHO Nagrota traveled to Sirsa, Haryana, where they, with the assistance of the local police and counter-intelligence unit, conducted raids at multiple locations, said police.
They successfully apprehended 11 accused involved in the crime (conspiracy and harbouring) and also recovered the snatched Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK02BG-7407 from their possession. The gang conspired in Katra to abduct Mangal Singh and, with criminal intent, murdered him near Bajalta, where they later disposed off his body, police said.
The body was recovered in the presence of the victim’s family and prominent local members. Following the postmortem, the body was handed over to his legal heirs for the last rites, police further said.
