AAP Betraying Farmers: Tarun Chugh
Delhi/Chandigarh, Jan 3: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today criticized the AAP government for its complete failure in implementing farmers' welfare schemes in Delhi, accusing it of betraying the farming community.
Chugh stated that this failure has exposed the AAP as an anti-farmer party, depriving farmers of the benefits envisioned for them by the Modi government. He said that the AAP government’s actions are not only harming farmers but also misleading the nation with false narratives and hollow promises.
"While the Congress and AAP indulge in blame games, the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has increased the budgetary allocation for agriculture manifold," Chugh said. "During the UPA tenure, the allocation was merely around ₹20,000 crore, whereas it now exceeds ₹1.5 lakh crore under the Modi government," he added.
Chugh questioned Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, asking why farmers in BJP-led Haryana are receiving MSP on 24 crops, while the so-called pro-agriculture party AAP has deprived farmers in Punjab & Delhi of such benefits.
Referring to a recent letter from Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Chugh expressed concern over the AAP government’s failure to implement key schemes such as the Beej Gram Yojana and the Integrated Floriculture Development Scheme. He described this neglect as alarming and indicative of a deliberate attempt to sabotage farmers’ interests.
"The AAP government in Delhi is intentionally failing farmers on all fronts," Chugh said. "While farmers are already burdened with exorbitant electricity charges, they are also being forced to pay inflated prices for agricultural equipment like tractors and other implements. This clearly reflects the anti-farmer agenda of the AAP government."
Chugh further highlighted that AAP’s anti-farmer policies have caused similar distress and frustration among farmers in Punjab. "Under the guise of lofty promises, the AAP has consistently worked against the welfare of farmers, whether in Delhi or Punjab," he added.
